An early spring breakdown

Loud beats, colorful kicks, and slammin’ moves. No, this is not another sequel of Step Up but, the 2nd annual Chitown Breakdown hosted by the UIC chapter of Hip Hop Congress. Amateur and professional breakdancing crews form all over the chicago land area flooded The Illinois room in Student Center East on March 13th, 2010. The room was brimming with talent; b-boys and b-girls of ages 6 to 35 popped, locked, spun, froze, on the dance floor.

Gallery 400: A Two Day Art Fair

On a chilly Friday afternoon, people are scurrying into a building on South Peoria Street. Inside, they find fold-out tables with red candy dispensers, a slinky adhered to a piece of styrofoam, books filled with photos of shirtless boys posing in the forest, and cloth patches for non-existent organizations. The small, classroom-sized room smells of fried chicken and freshly printed paper. Every once in a while, a laugh pops above the throng of conversations.
