April is Earth Month at UIC: the time of year when a number of student-run and university-sponsored groups foster events to generate awareness and support of new eco-friendly and energy-efficient innovations that will change our campus. What some who frequent our campus may not have noticed, however, is that UIC has made some large-scale innovations over the past two years, thanks, in large part, to Cynthia Klein-Banai, Associate Chancellor for Sustainability at UIC.

Douglas Hall modernizes campus

This May, the UIC campus will see the beginning of the renovation process of Douglas Hall, culminating in a facility that will better suit the College of Business Administration. Approved by the Board of Trustees on January 15th of 2009, the nearly 16.5 million dollar project will provide students with new amenities while lowering the universities maintenance costs and carbon footprint.
