Yesterday, March 8th, beginning at 9 am about 200 UIC faculty and students partook in the most sophisticated coalition to campaign against campus furloughs and budget cuts to education. ‘The UIC Joint Faculty Furlough and Public Education Day’ has a simple goal, get more funding for public education and engage in political action to achieve it.

Khan/Jamil win student elections by landslide

Yesterday, polls closed on the UIC Student Elections, leaving Roshina Khan the projected winner for UIC’s Student Member of the Board of Trustees seat with 38.8% of the vote, and Saad Jamil projected to win the Undergraduate Student Government (USG) Presidency with 50.6%. The results are not final until any pending complaints are resolved and the vote is certified by the Office of the Dean of Students.

Cupcakes end financial crisis at UIC

Thanks to a number of unprecedented financial maneuvers, administration officials at UIC announced an end to all budgetary concerns for many years to come. Inspired by many student-run organizations, the university began desperately hustling baked goods and hot chocolate as of last Monday morning. Earlier figures suggest that UIC raked in nearly $3 billion in total, signifying one of the most prolific fiscal turnarounds in school history.
