Bringing balance to LGBT media coverage

Only a day after the infamous Westboro Baptist Church picket at the Levine Hillel Center, Tracy Baim, the editor for a leading lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) newspaper called Windy City Times gave a presentation to the UIC community on LGBT issues in journalism on March 9th at room 605 in Student Center East.

On Monday, four members of the Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) were met by nearly 200 counter-protesters and observers. The main message the WBC wished to convey was “God hates Jews and homosexuals.” The main message of the counter-protesters: Anything but hate.
